To search for people, specify a proper or common first name or nickname and a surname, or only a first or surname. For best result, specify both a first and last name.

For example, the term Gretzky will return all players with that surname, whereas the term Wayne Gretzky will only return the player with that name. Terms are also wild carded to the right, so the term W Gre will return Wayne Gretzky and Walter Green, among others. For finer control, go to the members-only advanced person search.

Teams and leagues

Search terms are wild carded on both ends when searching for teams and leagues, so a search for lion will return values such as Brantford Lions and 225th Battalion.
